The wineproduction 2010 in Italy is expected to overtake France

The Italian agricultural association Coldiretti has announced its forecasts for the grape harvest 2010, and it looks very promising.

The forecasts expects that more grapes will be harvested this year than previous years and it is expected that the amount of produced wine in Italy will increase by 5% compared to last year.

The agricultural association also expects that the quality of the grapes will increase and that more wines will be able to achieve the quality marks of DOCG, DOC and IGT.

With these positive forecasts it seems that Italy will overtake the French predictions for this year's wine production, which is expected to be around 47.3 million hectoliters versus Italy's 47.5 million hl.
